Another year over

December 3, 2023 at 3:13 pm

And here we are again. It’s just about time to say goodbye to 2023. As I prepare for the Christmas season, I’m reflecting on the year that has just passed and what experiences I’ve had. I’ve had the joy of having another book accepted for publication. Keeper of the Archives should be released in July 2024. Woohoo! I had the satisfaction of being able to re-release the Verindon trilogy as an omnibus edition, which allowed me to spruce it up a little in the process. All new versions of the ebooks are now available. You can find the links to […]

Fabulous weekend

April 19, 2023 at 9:17 am

I had an amazing time at Gold Coast Supanova this past weekend, at the Rendered Realms stand with Adele Jones and Jeanette O’Hagan. It was busy pretty much from the get-go. It opened at 10.00 am, and I think someone said the convention carpark (which is HUGE) was full by 10.30 am. There were people everywhere. Just because a convention is busy doesn’t always mean we sell a lot of books. Fortunately, this time, it did. I had my most successful event ever, and Adele and Jeanette had some decent sales as well. It was fun, energising and entertaining. I […]

Getting ready for a great year

February 1, 2023 at 3:27 pm

I’ve started booking events and getting ready to move forward as an author in 2023. June this year also sees the 10th anniversary of the release of my debut novel. I’ll have some special competitions and giveaways as that date comes closer, so watch this space. So far this year, I have finalised my next project with my publisher (it’s always scary to give it that final tick of approval) and have also booked Gold Coast Supanova, which I will be attending with Jeanette O’Hagan and Adele Jones in April. I will also be running two workshops at the Boonah […]

Nearly 10 years

November 16, 2022 at 12:52 pm

Next year, it will be 10 years since I became a published author. Yes, it’s hard to believe that The Heir (Verindon #1) was published nearly 10 years ago. Wow, how time does fly! And it’s still selling. I made some good sales at Brisbane Supanova a couple of weeks ago. It’s good to see that The Verindon Trilogy still generates interest. I had a lot of fun at Brisbane Supanova with Adele Jones and Jeanette O’Hagan. It’s always heaps of fun to see what everyone’s wearing. I was also able to wear my new costume, which I had taken […]

Oz ComicCon Homegrown

March 16, 2022 at 10:11 am

This is my first blog for the year, and I apologise for being so tardy. However, with Omicron hitting, some new health challenges and a new release coming up, I’ve been a bit swamped. But now I’m gearing up for the release of The Verindon Conspiracy and for my first event of the year, OzComicCon Homegrown in Brisbane. OzComicCon will be held on 26-27 March at the Brisbane Convention Centre. I’ll be there at the Rendered Realms stand with Jeanette O’Hagan. Unfortunately, Adele Jones can’t join us on this occasion. Our stand number is AA3, so if you’re attending, be […]

Gold Coast Supanova going ahead

March 20, 2021 at 12:36 pm

If all things stay as they are, it looks like Supanova will be going ahead on the Gold Coast in April. I will be there at the Rendered Realms stand with Jeanette O’Hagan and Adele Jones on the 16th and 17th April, 2021. It will be our first event since March 2020, when COVID brought everything to a halt. I’m trying not to get too excited, as I know an outbreak could happen again and suddenly we’ll be plunged into lockdown, but we’re doing well here in Queensland and the vaccine is being slowly rolled out, so I’m hopeful it […]

An Eventful Start

May 22, 2019 at 11:11 am

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged, mainly because I’ve been so busy! It’s been an eventful start to the year, with many things going on. I enjoyed attending Gold Coast Supanova with my author friends Jeanette O’Hagan and Adele Jones in April. It was a lot of fun and I was able to wear the brand new costume that my mother-in-law had made to dress me up as a character from my books.  She did a fantastic job and only finished it twenty-four hours before I left to head down to the coast! I’d also had my friend, Naomi […]

Busy with books

February 27, 2019 at 11:25 am

This is my first blog post of the year and the title should give you some idea why. The first two months of the year have been full of editing (both my works and others) and the next few months are full of events. The most exciting news is this. I have a short story in a soon-to-be-released anthology called Challenge Accepted. It includes seventeen stories by different speculative fiction authors (my friend Jeanette O’Hagan is one of them). All the protagonists have some kind of disability that challenges them in the world in which they live. All proceeds from […]

A Milestone Weekend

November 17, 2018 at 9:29 am

This time last weekend I was at Brisbane Supanova having a fantastic time. I attended with my good friends, Adele Jones and Jeanette O’Hagan, occupying the Rendered Realms stall. It was a fantastic weekend with a lot of good chats, a lot of compliments for people wearing great costumes, and thankfully, a good number of sales. Of the three of us, I think Jeanette sold the most. People couldn’t get enough of her fantastic fantasy books, which you can see here. As usual, Adele impressed with her knowledge of science, included in her entertaining Integrate trilogy. Click here for more […]

‘Tis the Season for Events!

November 3, 2018 at 9:27 am

Once we reach the end of October, it becomes clear that Christmas is just around the corner. But that’s not the only thing that alerts me to Christmas’s impending arrival. The other thing that tells me is all the events that are on around this time. Some, like the Omega Writers’ Conference, I was unable to get to this year, but others have been a joy to attend. Some are in my personal life. My son graduates from primary (elementary) school this year and much to my surprise and delight, was awarded dux (it’s like being valedictorian) of the primary […]
