Busy, busy, busy!

October 11, 2023 at 1:19 pm

There’s so much going on at the moment, which is great. I like to be busy. 🙂 After Oz ComicCon in Brisbane in September, which we really enjoyed, I started work at a new round of edits on Keeper of the Archives, my new book, which will be out in July 2024. I’m still working on it and think it’s nearly ready to send back to my publisher. I have also been editing a short story I wrote for Diverging Worlds, a short story anthology I’m editing with Emily Larkin. We’ve started editing some stories from other authors for the […]

Oz ComicCon Homegrown

March 16, 2022 at 10:11 am

This is my first blog for the year, and I apologise for being so tardy. However, with Omicron hitting, some new health challenges and a new release coming up, I’ve been a bit swamped. But now I’m gearing up for the release of The Verindon Conspiracy and for my first event of the year, OzComicCon Homegrown in Brisbane. OzComicCon will be held on 26-27 March at the Brisbane Convention Centre. I’ll be there at the Rendered Realms stand with Jeanette O’Hagan. Unfortunately, Adele Jones can’t join us on this occasion. Our stand number is AA3, so if you’re attending, be […]

2021 throws a curve ball

October 5, 2021 at 2:01 pm

I think most of us hoped that 2021 would be an improvement on 2020 with its COVID craziness and all the problems associated with living in a pandemic. It didn’t help that 2020 was also a hard year for our family personally, so I was looking forward to a better 2021. Unfortunately, 2021 decided not to be cooperative in a major way in my life, as in the first half of the year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I’m happy to say that I’ve had surgery and they managed to remove all the cancer cells, so it’s likely I […]

The Verindon Alliance is coming soon!

February 4, 2020 at 1:00 pm

My new novel, The Verindon Alliance, is coming out on 1st May 2020. I’m so excited to finally have a new full-length story to share with you. My last full-length release was Once Confronted back in October 2016, which seems like a long time ago now.  It’s almost like starting all over again. I’ve had to get back into the new release head space, which is rusty after lying dormant for more than three years. I’ll be continuing to post both on my website and social media accounts in the lead-up to The Verindon Alliance‘s release, so make sure you […]

‘Tis the Season for Events!

November 3, 2018 at 9:27 am

Once we reach the end of October, it becomes clear that Christmas is just around the corner. But that’s not the only thing that alerts me to Christmas’s impending arrival. The other thing that tells me is all the events that are on around this time. Some, like the Omega Writers’ Conference, I was unable to get to this year, but others have been a joy to attend. Some are in my personal life. My son graduates from primary (elementary) school this year and much to my surprise and delight, was awarded dux (it’s like being valedictorian) of the primary […]

Help me find a crown

February 27, 2018 at 4:56 pm

If everything goes well, Adele Jones, Jeanette O’Hagan and I will be attending Gold Coast Supanova in late April! 🙂 We had great fun when we went to ComicCon in September last year and enjoyed seeing everyone participating in cosplay and getting into the swing of it. We did our best to join in – I had a dress with stars on it (and a TARDIS) to lend a sci-fi theme to my costume, and I also wore my old wedding tiara to stand in for a crown, as is featured on the cover of book two in the Verindon […]

Exciting Times

October 1, 2017 at 3:58 pm

Last weekend I went to my first ever Comic-Con event right here in Brisbane, and I’m hooked! I was at the Intricate Worlds table with two author friends, Adele Jones and Jeanette O’Hagan. It was a great idea to share a table, as it meant we could not only share the costs but also man the table if one or other of us wanted to take a break and see all the great things on offer at Comic-Con. I’m happy to say that all three of us were pleased with the response our books received. We gave out so many […]

Feast or Famine

August 27, 2017 at 3:19 pm

Up until now, this year has been a quiet one as far as author opportunities go, even after the release of Once Confronted in late 2016. So I went looking for opportunities and thankfully I’ve found some. 🙂 I find that sometimes an author has to keep her nose to the ground when sniffing out new ideas for marketing, and fellow authors can be a great help with that. It was through two other authors that I found some US radio shows that are happy to interview authors from all over the world. I was interviewed by one a couple […]

The fear that never leaves

February 25, 2017 at 8:41 am

You’d think that after six years, I’d be over it. I first submitted The Heir to Wombat Books in 2011. I was terrified of rejection and worried they would say the book was crap. Fortunately, they didn’t, although it still needed a lot of work, which we gave it until its ultimate release in 2013. Yet here I am, about to submit my latest manuscript to my publisher, and I’m terrified of what they’re going to say. I worked on Raydon’s Muse for most of last year and managed to finish it in December. Since then, I have been going […]

Get ready …

August 21, 2016 at 11:20 am

As it’s been a while since I’ve had a new book released, I’d forgotten just how much needs to be done in the lead-up to it. Preparing for a new book is a little like preparing for a new baby. There are a lot of things that must be done prior to the book’s arrival. It’s best to approach reviewers as early as possible. If any advertising is planned, that also needs to be booked in advance. Then there are any promotional items you might require, such as brochures, posters or banners. I have my charm bracelets as well, and […]
