Once we reach the end of October, it becomes clear that Christmas is just around the corner. But that’s not the only thing that alerts me to Christmas’s impending arrival. The other thing that tells me is all the events that are on around this time. Some, like the Omega Writers’ Conference, I was unable to get to this year, but others have been a joy to attend. Today I’ve been reflecting on what I expected when I first became a published author and what the reality has turned out to be. Fortunately, I think I was fairly realistic, although, as with anyone with a good imagination, I had no trouble imagining myself achieving fame and fortune because of my writing!
