Busy, busy, busy!

October 11, 2023 at 1:19 pm

There’s so much going on at the moment, which is great. I like to be busy. 🙂 After Oz ComicCon in Brisbane in September, which we really enjoyed, I started work at a new round of edits on Keeper of the Archives, my new book, which will be out in July 2024. I’m still working on it and think it’s nearly ready to send back to my publisher. I have also been editing a short story I wrote for Diverging Worlds, a short story anthology I’m editing with Emily Larkin. We’ve started editing some stories from other authors for the […]

A very unusual year

September 13, 2020 at 1:10 pm

It’s been a long while since I’ve written a blog. I’d blame the pandemic, but I’m not sure it has to take full responsibility, although it had a surprising effect on me. It made me insanely busy. But first things first – the launch of The Verindon Alliance went well. I had to do it online only, as we were in the middle of a lockdown, but I held a Facebook live event, which you can see here, if you would like to, and it received a fairly good response. Sales have been encouraging, and this has been reassuring, especially […]

The Verindon Alliance is coming soon!

February 4, 2020 at 1:00 pm

My new novel, The Verindon Alliance, is coming out on 1st May 2020. I’m so excited to finally have a new full-length story to share with you. My last full-length release was Once Confronted back in October 2016, which seems like a long time ago now.  It’s almost like starting all over again. I’ve had to get back into the new release head space, which is rusty after lying dormant for more than three years. I’ll be continuing to post both on my website and social media accounts in the lead-up to The Verindon Alliance‘s release, so make sure you […]

‘Tis the Season for Events!

November 3, 2018 at 9:27 am

Once we reach the end of October, it becomes clear that Christmas is just around the corner. But that’s not the only thing that alerts me to Christmas’s impending arrival. The other thing that tells me is all the events that are on around this time. Some, like the Omega Writers’ Conference, I was unable to get to this year, but others have been a joy to attend. Some are in my personal life. My son graduates from primary (elementary) school this year and much to my surprise and delight, was awarded dux (it’s like being valedictorian) of the primary […]

Cosplay

March 21, 2018 at 4:09 pm

Do you know what cosplay is? That’s what you see if you go to conventions like ComicCon and Supanova, where the visitors dress up in all kinds of weird and wonderful gear that represents their favourite fandom. A lot of people look askance at cosplayers for the same reason, I think, they might look askance at a grown man buying a lego set, or a woman my age rummaging through the young adult books at the local bookstore. But that’s not going to stop me. 🙂 It doesn’t stop them, either, which makes me happy, as it’s amazing to see […]

It’s that time of the year again!

December 23, 2017 at 10:07 am

Merry Christmas, all! It’s been a while since I’ve blogged, mainly because life has been insanely busy on all fronts. Finally, I get a chance to wish you all the joy in the world this festive season. I’m happy to say I have been busy with my books and have done a number of book events since Comic Con. I’ve also made a few good contacts and have some things already lined up for next year. I’m hoping to get to Supanova on the Gold Coast in April, especially since Peter Capaldi’s going to be there. He’s from Doctor Who, […]

The fear that never leaves

February 25, 2017 at 8:41 am

You’d think that after six years, I’d be over it. I first submitted The Heir to Wombat Books in 2011. I was terrified of rejection and worried they would say the book was crap. Fortunately, they didn’t, although it still needed a lot of work, which we gave it until its ultimate release in 2013. Yet here I am, about to submit my latest manuscript to my publisher, and I’m terrified of what they’re going to say. I worked on Raydon’s Muse for most of last year and managed to finish it in December. Since then, I have been going […]
